Price Available on Request
ColoursGreen
SizeHeight:20cm
Spread:20cm
AspectPrefers partial shade.
CarePrefer cooler conditions (with some varieties being hardy enough to be grown outside over Winter). They like a humus rich, fertile, moist soil. Space 20-35cm apart (depending on the variety). Slugs and aphids can be a problem so cover them over with cloches. You may wish to put some course grit down in the hope of deterring slugs.
Uses-Great for Cesar salads
-Can be grown at the front of mixed bed/border
-Can be grown in tubs as a patio kitchen
-Tough enough to be grown outside over winter.
DescriptionThe leaves of Romaine or cos lettuce grow upright, with a heavier rib to each leaf. The leaves in the center of the lettuce clump blanch to a creamy yellow. They are popularly used for Caesar salad. They are hardier than most lettuces, and produce a crisp, tasty falvour. They are slower to mature than Butterheads and Crispheads, and do not bolt as quickly.
