AspectThey need an open site. Soil must not dry out, but drainage should be good.
CarePlant between May and June. Soil should be improved with manure and fertiliser in advance of planting. Do not like acidic soil. In dry weather, you should water them consistantly, as lack of water can causecrops to become woody. Watering them suddenly after a period of drought may cause the crop to split. Harvesting should start as oon as roots are substantial enough (normally early-mid Autumn). They can be left in the ground for storage until December (after which they will start to become woody). They can be stored in boxed in a cool place.
