| Care | Soil should not dry out in summer or be waterlogged in the winter. They need support canes early on. Mulch to keep the soil moist. Water regularly in dry weather, when the flowers open (watering before will only encourage leafy growth, it will not improve the crop). It is vital that you keep picking them, the more you pick, the more the plants will produce. You should harvest from the bottom of the plant and then work your way up. When plants are drying, cut off the plant, but leave the roots in the ground, as they will rot and release nutrients (from their nitrogen fixing nodes) back into the soil. |
