AspectOnions prefer an open, sunny site, but tolerate partial shade. Autumn planted onions must have full sun and good drainage.
CareThey need a well drained soil, (doesn't have to be especially fertile). Their strappy foliage can look impressive as part of a mixed planting scheme, but they dislike being crowded. DescriptionOnions are full of flavour and widely used in many cuisines. They are undemanding and easy to grow, and can be grown in a vegetable garden, pots and conatiners or as part of a mixed bed/border.
