ColoursGreen
SizeHeight: 30cm/12inches
Spacing: 20cm/8inches
AspectShallots prefer an open, sunny site, but will tolerate a little bit of shade.
CarePlant in May. The soil should be well drained. They don't need much attention, but should be watered in dry weather when the bulbs start to swell. Harvest from about July onwards (or when the leaves are dying back). Lift the bulbs, and allow them to dry completely. Once they are dry, separate them into individual bulbs and either store them in a dry place or pickle them in vinegar.
Uses-Pickled onions
-Small onions
DescriptionShallots are a hary, easy crop to grow (easier than normal onions). They are delicious when pickled!
