CareDo not plant in a freshly manured soil. You should keep the soil free from weeds, so that the garlics don't have to compete for water and nutrients. Water in spring if dry. If your soil is likely to be very wet over winter then it is better to plant them in pots filled with free draining, loam based compost. To improve the yields of stiff stem garlic, cut back the flowering stem by half 2-3 weeks before harvest.
Uses-Can be grown as part of a mixed bed/border
-Can be grown in containers as part of a patio kitchen
-easy to grow
DescriptionThis hardy crop is easy to grow and is an essential in the kitchen! It needs a long growing period to grow well, but that's okay because it doesn't take up much space while growing. The flowers can be really pretty (elephant garlic flowers look like allium flowers) so you can take up even less room in your veggie plot by mixing it in with your perennials.
