| Care | They tolerate a randge of conditions. However they need to be pruned quite hard, and therefore should ideally be planted in a soil enriched with lots of organic matter. They prefer a well drained soil. Plant them 5cm (2inches) deeper than the soil mark, as this will encourage the burried stems to root out. |

| Description | Blackcurrants are very nutritious, with a high vitamin C content. They teaste exquisit when eaten fresh, but can also be frozen, and make super preserves.you can eat them raw, cooked or juiced. Blackcurrants are very expensive to buy in the shops, but if you grow them yourself you should get a yeild of 4kg (9lb) per bush, and they taste far superior!Fully hardy. Note blackcurrant bushes cannot be trained into shapes. |
