Prefers full sun or partial shade.
Care
Before planting, dig a medium intensity fertilizer to improve the soil. Ideally the soil should be moist and fertile (but will tolerate most soils). After flowering, cut the plant back to 5cm/2inches. as this will encourage new growth.
Uses
-Useful for flavouring food
-looks great as a plant in its own right, at the front of beds/borders
-can be container grown, as part of a patio kitchen
-low maintenance
Description
This hardy perennial is extremely useful, as the leaves and purple flowers can be used in cooking. They taste a bot like mild onion. Its strappy foliage, and round purple flowers make it a nice addition for the front of beds/borders. The flowers also attract beneficial insects, including bees.
